Strawberry Donut

I've always wanted to paint a strawberry donut - a delicious pastry enjoyed with a cup of coffee. While reminiscent of The Simpsons this donut brought a smile to my face. I particularly had a lot of fun painting on the sprinkles - I thought it would be time consuming but it was actually therapeutic. I plan on turning the donut into a cute sticker!

Yellow Sky

On our drive back from Estes Park we ran into some absolutely gorgeous clouds during golden hour. The clouds had a small break and the sun rays shone through the gaps. I honestly don't think I need to say more - this was absolutely breathtaking. 16/52

Cherry Limeade

One hot evening during summer of 2022 while watching the television show Better Call Saul I had the wonderful idea to replicate the iconic Sonic cherry limeade as a cocktail. It was delicious, refreshing and gorgeous in the golden light. I simply couldn't resist painting this drink and I love how the red of the drink pops against the lighter background. 15/52

Going Home Study

On a road trip to Phoenix, Arizona we had to drive through Colorado. Passing the border from Nebraska into Colorado at golden hour produced this absolutely gorgeous colorscape on the clouds. It had just gotten done raining and it was absolutely serene. There is just something about golden hour that brings a magical feeling. This painting is actually a study for a larger painting I plan on painting in the future. 14/52

Snow on the Cabin

In my first-ever trip out to Estes Park, Colorado, my fiancé and I stayed in this gorgeous cabin on this small river. Standing outside one day before going on our hike of the day I knew I had to capture the above scene. Surrounded by snow, the air was silent and the breeze was cold on the nose. We have since returned to Estes Part for a second time, but the first time is always incredibly memorable. 13/52

Pot O' Greenery

I am not too sure of where I took the reference photo for this painting but I remember falling in love with all of the foliage. This is also actually the first painting I've made that focused solely on greenery, and it was actually challenging to paint. For this painting I tried a more "loose" painting approach, blocking in paint stroke shapes rather than paying attention to definitions of individual leaves and such. I also started this painting with a vibrant red underpainting and left areas of it to pop against the greens. All in all, a fun painting experience. 12/52

My Heart is a Bouquet of Roses

A while ago I picked up these cute heart-shaped wood panels from Trekell. Picking up a bouquet of roses from Target, I just knew that they had to be the subject of this painting. This heart is part 1 out of 4 of my heart-shaped painting series. The second will be another configuration of this bouquet and then the final two will be sunflowers, just because I love sunflowers. This painting took me the longest time to paint, beating Warmth in time worked. While this painting was incredibly daunting (and spent a long time in the "ugly" phase) it was really rewarding to finish. Stay tuned for part 2!

Nintendo Tea Time Study

I loved working on this painting. It surprised me how popular it was at my craft fairs - I'll have to definitely make prints of this paining. This painting is a study for a larger painting I plan on working on later in the year. Currently I am a little hush-hush about the final piece, but it'll be so cool! Funny story, I actually dropped this painting face down on my carpet, my first-ever transportation blunder. Did you know that Kirby is my favorite Nintendo character? Poochy is a close second!

Spring Craft Fairs

This spring I started to attend my first-ever craft fairs as a vendor. The above photo is from my first craft fair in Bellevue, where I learned a lot and networked all day. It was a fantastic learning experience and I was able to determine how I'd like to start turning my booth into.
