Green Apple Poison

12x9in. oil on Ampersand Gessobord - click to purchase here

Disclaimer: it is difficult to photograph dark paintings at my current photography skill, I apologize. That said, here is a spooky cauldron filled with green apple poison! I actually like green apple as a flavor, but only as Zotz (if you haven't had Zotz before and like fizzy candy, check it out!). This is a sister painting in a 2 part series.

Applewood

7x5in. oil on canvas panel - click to purchase here

There is a whiskey bar in the city I love to visit called Proof. They have all sorts of whiskey cocktails and drams that you could have poured for you. Normally I get an old fashioned made with Woodford Reserve, but they have another drink called the Applewood. It's similar to an old fashioned (or at least I think it is) but one of the main differences is that the garnish is a few slices of apple with nutmeg and the glass itself is infused with wood smoke. It's what I picture autumn to be in a cocktail: warm, smoky, a little fruity, and all around delicious. Note: please consume alcohol responsibly. 18/52

Sunflower Bouquet 2

8x8.5in. oil on Trekell heart panel - sold

Hyvee tends to have some gorgeous sunflowers in stock. With sunflowers being my favorite flower, I wanted to get a bouquet and set up some still life reference photos. I ended up with two bouquet reference photos. I bought these super cute wood panels from Trekell - I really loved the outside border and had the idea to cover them in gold foil rather than paint it. I also love that the gold foil didn't transfer perfectly, I think it adds charm. I'm not sure if I would have painted the reservoir or not, but if I were to paint it, I think I would have used gold as well. I think black would be too distracting from the subject. This heart is part 4 out of 4 of my heart-shaped painting series.
